Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog

The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is a very rare breed of dogs, originating in Georgia, USA. The breed originated in the 1800s, descending from Bulldog-type canines, genetically related to the Olde English Bulldogge. Although the dog proved an excellent guardian and service dog, it was bred for companionship. The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog descended from a dog named Otto, owned by Buck Lane. The dog showed exceptional fidelity to his master even after his tragic death, as Otto visited his grave regularly and guarded it. The breed was recognized in 1986 by the Animal Research Foundation.

The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is a sturdy and muscular dog, measuring around 24 inches high at the withers and weighing 78 lbs. There is a significant difference in size between males and females. These dogs have a prominent muzzle with loose lips and large round eyes. The coat is short and stiff, and it comes in blue merle, brown merle, or red merle. Alapaha Bulldogs should never have their ears or tail docked.

Alapaha Bulldogs are healthy and hardy dogs, although their genetic makeup is not well studied due a very limited stock (no more than 150 living species around the world). Some dogs develop eye problems (inverted eyelids). Their life expectancy is 12-15 years, which is longer than in most other Bulldog-type dogs.

The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is naturally protective around his loved ones and will fight to the last for defense. These dogs never exhibit unprovoked aggression. They are not vicious, and are known for their communicative disposition. These dogs enjoy all sorts of physical exercise, although they should not be exposed to excessive physical strains. They appreciate long daily walks and active game. Alapaha Bulldogs are inactive indoors, and hence they require at least a medium-sized and well-fenced yard in order to keep fit throughout lifetime. These dogs are superb companions for children, and they are ready to tolerate much misbehavior from young kids. However, children must be taught to treat this dog with respect. If socialized properly, Alapaha Bulldogs can be tolerant of other animals. However, the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog tends to be dog-aggressive, because they are naturally dominant.
